I have been captivated by the written word since I was a little girl when my eyes followed my mother’s finger along the lines of a book. Nothing was beyond my interest: fantasy, romance, science fiction, reference books, cereal boxes. They all told a story, even if was only that the semi-plastic sugar bits floating in my milk had fourteen grams of sugar and absolutely no nutritive value.

Many a night I read until dawn, a plastic flashlight hidden under the covers to light the pages as I raced against the rising sun to finish my latest must-read.

It was during those years I began to fantasize about writing. Books would seem the logical choice; however, living in sunny southern California, my heart was hijacked by the entertainment business. I wanted to write. But more importantly, I thought, I wanted to write screenplays.

Finding work within one of the smaller studios, I took classes at AFI on the weekends, and wrote two days a week with my writing partner, my dad.

Then my dad died unexpectedly.

Grief works in unconventional ways and I didn’t write for a period of time. A few summers later, I was compelled to put thought to metaphorical paper. I had never tried to write a simple narrative before, but when I did ... it felt magical.

I’ve been writing prose ever since. Not knowing whether I could effectively reach an audience, I began in an environment where I could receive instant feedback. I started on the internet and I started with fanfiction. It has been a remarkable, enriching experience. I've been honored that some of my peers have thought my efforts notable.

Recently, I've begun to branch into original fantasy, currently plotting a trilogy of books about the fantasy universe of Elba. It shines very brightly in my mind's eye.

Mundanely, I still live in southern California with my husband, whom I affectionately refer to as UberGeek, our two sons, and a miscellany of pets.
